I'm working on a document that includes both left-to-right reading text as well as right-to-left. I'm importing the right-to-left text from a Word doc and have encountered hidden characters I've never seen before that I suspect have something to do with the direction of the type. This character appears instead of the traditional "space bar" bullet character. I couldn't find it on google image search. Can anyone ID this and explain it to me?
Well, it's a few of them! First there's a Left-To-Right Override, followed by a perfectly ordinary space, followed by a Pop Directional Formatting character. This kind of muck is a typical result of working with imported bidirectional text from Word.
Of course, I wouldn't have been able to identify the directional formatting character without this very useful reference of all (actually all, I think) of InDesign's hidden characters over at Indiscripts.
