need to clear InDesign CC 2019 cache

In MacOS, I need to clear cache of my InDesign CC 2019, so I am trying Shift+Option+Command+Control. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.

Only one time 'Yes' pop has appeared then onwards no matter how many times now I am trying Shift+Option+Command+Control and select InDesign, just InDesign CC 2019 is getting started without giving me Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files popup.

Is there any other way for me to delete preference files in InDesign CC 2019?

Yes. To manually Clear your InDesign cache files on a Mac:

The User Library folder in which InDesign’s cache files are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire folder “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the InDesign cache folder completely leads to a lasting change.

If you want to manually delete the preferences (which does not delete the cache files) on a Mac:

Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe InDesign” and the file called “com.adobe.InDesign.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When InDesign is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

The advantage of manually deleting preference files in this manner is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Help!

I am just finishing off two 450-page books and Indesign's rolling beachball of death keeps popping up (for four and a half hours now) when I want to do a simple adjustment of moving a paragraph of text up three lines. (which should take 15 seconds) I quit Indesign and come back. I shut off the computer and come back. I try some work-arounds because there seems to be something blocking it. No luck at all. So, I copied everything onto another computer (where the same problem appears) and then started to follow your 'delete cache' instructions on Compuer 1. After I get to the 'Home' folder, there is no 'Library' folder (or 'Preferences'; or 'AdobeInDesign' either). This project is due on Monday and today is Friday. Where can I find it? How can I clear this issue?  Thank you.

You missed some of the instructions...

At the desktop, hold down the Option key and go to the Go menu. You will see Library appear in the Go menu. Select it.

Hello

I did what you suggested. Went to 'Go' , then Library, then cleared Preferences and .com.adobe.InDesign.plist.

Nothing much changed.

Then I went to Timemachine, back to Wednesday, and retrieved an uncorrupted copy of the 450-page book.

Had to save it from Time Machine under the old name to 'replace' it.

I then started re-making the corrections/additions I had done since then (title pages, small line adjustments) and the document behaved beautifully.

Saved it under a new name before I went to bed. Put it also on external hard drive. and trashed every copy of the old document I had and emptied the trash.

This morning, looking forward to working on it, I call up the ('new') document, and to my horror, there is the corrupted version, unable to be adjusted, with the beachball of death whirring around.

Back to TimeMachine again, back to Wednesday, and the good, working copy will not load. My 'good' copy on external hard drive also loads as the corrupted version.

This is a nightmare.

I went back to your instructions again, thinking some horrible 'cache' still exists. Go to 'Go', then home. No 'Library' exists now. No 'Preferences', no '.plist file.'

What can I do???

Did you hold down the Alt/Option key?

You can also try to reset preferences this way: quit InDesign and relaunch it while holding down the Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys until you see a warning message asking for confirmation.
