New update now messing with my images

Oct 30, 2025 Oct 30, 2025

I work for a newspaper, and while exporting a layout proof some pages with ads appear blank even though the ad is there. I normally place indesign files and for whatever reason when I export them the ads are missing or the images in the ad are distorted.

If I place a high res PDF in for the ad it's fine. I have never had an issue placing indesign documents before this update.

Hi @tania_3264,

Thanks for sharing the details. I tested this on my end using InDesign 21.0, but couldn't reproduce the issue, the placed InDesign ads displayed and exported correctly to PDF without distortion or disappearing. Could you please confirm your OS version and if this happens with all files or only specific ones? Also, were the ad files created in an older version of InDesign and then placed in version 21.0 before exporting? I tested that scenario as well and didn't encounter any issue.

It would be really helpful if you could share a short screen recording showing your workflow, so I can review it with the team. In the meantime, please try creating a new test document in InDesign 21.0 and place a few sample INDD ads(create in v21.0) to check if the problem reoccurs. You can also try resetting your InDesign preferences manually and test again: https://adobe.ly/4hJDMyU

Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek
