No capital "B" and no more quotation marks any more in InDesign

We're using InDesign 15.1.2 and we use the app in German language only. From one day to the other, a couple of weeks ago we couldn't use "B" and quotation marks any more. At least not the normal way. When pressing "shift" and b nothing happened. Just blank. Same with the quotation marks (on German keyboards on the "2" key).

Capital "B" as well as " is possible when using shift-lock.

Initially we thought that it is just a bug being fixed sooner or later...

With all the other apps/programms we use we do not have this problem. So it happens in InDesign only.

How can we solve this problem?

Typically when this happens it's due to either a New Shortcut added to InDesign - https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/indesign/using/customize-menus-keyboard-shortcuts.html

 

Or - there's a program/software on  your computer that has the keyboard shortcut for Shift B. 

Have you installed any programmes recently?

    Hi Eugene,

    thank you very much for your reply! THAT WAS IT! The problem were two keyboard shortcuts. Now, having the capital "B" as well as the " back, life is much better.

      Do you remember which shortcut was conficting?  I am having the same issues with indesign.  When I press "Shift B" for capital B... nothing is happening.  Lower case b works.  It works in illustrator and photoshop.  But not indesign.

        Yes, we just tried. It did not change anything at all. Still problems with the "B" and the quotation marks.
