Non-printing item is invisible in file

Hi all! I make notes to myself all over reports that I make. They are non-printing, so they don't show up when I create a pdf or print the files. I have one report where those items don't show up. They are invisible in the report. I'm guessing it's a preference of some sort, but I can't find it in InDesign (CC) or online. Any ideas? Thanks!

I went to go take a screen shot and realized I was in "Overprint Preview." Once I got out of that, it works fine. I'm a nit wit.

Thank you!
