Question

Not able to create or edit GREP Styles on InDesign 15.1.1

Hi,

I'm having a hard time trying to create a paragraph style that includes more than one GREP style.

I have no problem when I add the first GREP style, but when I add a second one, after I select the character style it will use, and move to the "To Text" field, the character style gets back to "None".

Some times the character style persists, but the regular expression gets back to "\d+" (the default).

After trying many times, I, somehow, managed to create a style that includes 3 GREP styles, but if I try to edit it to add a fourth GREP style, the same thing happens: It gets back to [None] for the character style and/or "\d+" for the regular expression.

Has someone else faced the same problem?

Is there a workaround?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

It's 2022 and I'm facing exactly the same problem!

Not sure, but that sometimes reminds me of a document that is dealing with some internal corruption. You might try washing the INDD document exported out to IDML and thereafter re-opening the IDML file to reconstruct a clean INDD doc. Maybe the problem will go away.

Hi Mike, thanks for your suggestion.

I'm facing this issue on any document, even new ones, so, I'm thinking it is some kind of bug instead of corruption of a specific document.

Just in case, I tried it, but id didn't make any difference, unfortunately.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks again.
