Object moving issues

I am having issues with my Adobe in design 2025. When I am moving text boxes/images etc they are no longer moving along as I move the mouse and are jolting. They are staying in one place until i release the mouse and then it jumps to where I have moved it to. I never used to have this issue so I am assuming it is a setting or something I have accidentally changed? Before when I moved the mouse it would pick up and move the image around the page following until I selected where I wanted to place it.  This is inconvenient for me because I need to see where I am moving the images to fit them within certain guides etc. Does anyone know the answer to this problem?

Does your screen also go blank?

If so, then it's a new bug in InDesign 20.0.1.

Turning GPU on in Preferences fixes the issue, provided you have the GPU option available at all.

If you don't have GPU available, you can roll back to 20.0 in the Creative Cloud app:

As further tests revealed, reverting to 20.0 doesn't necessarily make this bug go away, even though it appears to be only introduced in 20.0.1.

Check on this preference:

Preference > Interface > Options > Live Screen Drawing

Reset it to "Immediate"

Mac? Magnet installed? Uninstall it!

If that doesn't apply we need full system details.

Hi @Adam_Hammond9099,

Thanks for reaching out!

Have the suggestions from our community experts resolved the issue for you? Specifically:

  • Checking the Preference > Interface > Options > Live Screen Drawing setting and resetting it to "Immediate".
  • Ensuring the GPU option is enabled in Preferences (if available).
  • Uninstalling any software like Magnet (if applicable).

If these steps haven't helped or you're still experiencing the issue, please let us know. Sharing your system details (InDesign version, operating system, and hardware setup) would also help us better understand and address the problem.

Looking forward to your update!

Best,
Abhishek Rao
