Open InDesign in current version

I have InDesign versions 2025 and also Beta installed on my laptop (Macbook Pro, Sonoma 14.5). I would like all InDesign files to open in version 2025. I have taken the steps of Get Info > Open With > choose version 2025 > Change All > then "Continue" with the verification window.

After doing so, it will default back to Beta. Is there a way to fix this?

I don't get it: you can drop a file on the correct App icon, or simply use File/Open in InDesign to open the correct files. I never ever double click on a document to open it, so 1990's... 🙃

The primary reason for setting up an image to open in a specific app is for when you are in InDesign and want to edit an image or vector, you can click on the link and then edit. If it is setup properly to open in the specific app, it will open right into Photoshop or Illustrator. Otherwise, there are multiple ways to open images/vectors/files for one to choose.

There's no solution for this, as far as I know. As long as you have Beta or Prerelease installed, they'll be open by default no matter what.

If you do want to keep the Beta, I recommend to put your InDesign 2025 icon in the Finder window toolbar and drop your files on it.

The frustrating thing for me is that I also have Photoshop and PS beta installed. When I do an update on Beta, it will become the default to open with. BUT I can then go through Get Info and change the default opening app and it will work with Photoshop but not InDesign.
