Question

overset text in pdf

I have made a research poster (4 x 6 feet) using InDesign, and exported to pdf to send to the printer. I got a warning of "overset text" for the poster title.  For the title, I used Arial font 72 pt, 150% to meet the requirement that the title characters are at least 1 inch tall, so I cannot reduce the font size. There is a red arrow at the right bottom corner of the text frame.  My question is; will the title part of the pdf file, which looks fine to me, be printed, if I just click  on OK to the warning of oversize text, without trying to change anything?  Thank you so much for your help.  I would really appreciate an answer soon.  Other than this issue, InDesign has worked fine so far.

    Hi Keiko,

This is the 'overset text' mark that you should be looking out for (pic attached). It means the text box is too small to accommodate all the text inside it. You need to enlarge it to reveal the rest of the copy. Alternatively, as Jongware pointed out it's usually just a few extra paragraph/line returns.

    Hi,

The printer should print whatever you see in the pdf file.

InIndesign can you go to the text frame woth the red mark(over set text) and use edit in story editor(ctrl+y) to see what is in the overset text?

    Hello Aman:

Thank you for the quick reply!. If the printer will print what i see in

the pdf file, I will send it and ask for an assurance proof which the

    printer offers.

Your second suggestion I will try if the above does not work.

Thanks again. It is nice to hear from the Adobe Community so soon!

It would depend on the text that disappeared, wouldn't it?

If it's just a couple of returns (rather likely), then just delete them so the warning disappears. If it's some important information that should be visible: no it will NOT appear in the PDF (and, for clarity, also not in prints made from that same PDF) so in that case you'd better review your design.
