I work for the devil and she has come up with a convoluted filing system. That one needs a degree in nuclear fusion to understand. As a lonely designer, I was hoping that InDesign could bridge the gap. Is there a way to customize a packaged file with a new filing convention and get it to create folders are specifically named that will be utilized later?
If not, Adobe this should be the next update as I'm sure I'm not the only on that wishes one could package straight into a work server.
Please help
Thanks

i get a request to name the packaged folder that holds the packaged files one way, and i do that from the dialog options as you are going thru the package files options. This way the folder that houses the packaged files can be label any way you want.
is this what you are looking to do. if not, please elaborate.

Beyond the parent folder which Jonathan has already pointed out can be named and located anything/anywhere you want, you cannot natively name or locate the child folders.
If that’s what you do want, you can try the scripting forum to see if anyone there can offer assistance.

Thank for the speedy replies, think it would be the child folders that I would want to be renamed if my understanding is correct. To elaborate:
Job bag File
1. Working File
holds the .ind and .idml
2. Content
Holds the links and copy files
3. Files for review
Holds a low res pdf
4. Final Approved file
Holds the print ready file
I would like to be able to package in a way that it automatically creates and names the first three folders

ok. thank you for explaining. that is a lot of moving folders to different locations.
what about the document fonts folder? where are you putting that folder?
Indesign will not do this for you automatically, a script might exist for this. Go to the scripting forum.
Once you get your answers have a calm reasonable conversation with your boss show your findings. and ask how they would like to proceed. Explain this will all be manual work. If he/she was to proceed just go forward, if they are not happy with how long things take you now. You can ask how would they like to proceed since these are the capabilities.
I know you are frustrated. Just lay down the facts and ask, "how would you like to proceed?"
That is my best advice.

Another question you’ll want to ask is “how much are you willing to pay for a solution?”
