Page Number Corruption

Hello,

Does anyone know why the numbering of a block of pages within a document suddenly changes to the letters PB rather than the page numbers? At the same time the page icons become blank, but other pages are unaffected.

Is there a simple way of fixing this?

I am using current InDesign program, running on OS11.4

Thanks in advance.

Maybe file corruption?

  1. Save as IDML.
  2. Open IDML.
  3. Save as INDD.
  4. Check if unwanted changes have occured.

Doesn't PB stand for pasteboard?

It sounds like the text frame that has the page number (or part of the text frame) is off the page and on the pasteboard.

"Doesn't PB stand for pasteboard?"

Exactly. If this happens the auto page number is on the pasteboard.

I think Willi is right. There is some document corruption.

FWIW: With a German InDesign you will not see "PB", but "MF" for "Montagefläche" like that:
