Page Options are greyed out for printing booklet settings

Hello,

I have A4 papers and I want to create my own A5 saddle-stitched notebooks. I use InDesign 2024 on windows.

I'm trying to learn export settings for printing. This is the first time I use them. So I created a page to understand its basics. I followed a tutorial however I cannot make the spreads work as they are greyed out.

  • I tried both checking and not unchecking the facing pages options on document setup.
  • I tried to choose postscript, adobe pdf and all the other options on print booklet > print settings > General
  • I tried to both Adobe PDF and Device Independent on PPD

I don't quite understand what is the issue here. Could you please help me?

I had "Print Parent Page: clicked, unclicking worked for me. Adding for future questioners!

Hi @raspberyl08 , It looks like you want your pages set up as A5 printing to A4 paper right? If that’s the case set your document up as A5 with Facing Pages checked:

Print Booklet will print the pages as Printer Spreads on to the chosen Paper Size and Orientation in the Print dialog:

Your document setup doesn't have Facing Pages checked on.

Thank you Mike for your reply.

However I tried both checking and unchecking facing pages. It doesn't work
