If we create 1400 pages book, then what will be the page size 8.5 x 11 with 1 inch margin from spine and half inch margin from other 3 sides?

or

9 x 11 with 1 inch margin from spine and half inch margin from other 3 sides?

Also, bleed must be included to 8.5 x 11 dimensions?

Thanks

Hi!

If you do not have any images bleeding off the edge, then your page size can be 8.5 x 11. But if you do have something bleeding off the edge, then you need to allow for 1/8 inch bleed (.125 in.) so your page size would be 10.75 x 8.25.

If you have no bleed, then your text area would be 7 x 10 (8.5-1.5=7 and 11-1=10). These numbers are not as important because as Kevin said above, you would set the text are using your margin settings.

Let us know if that helps,

Michelle

@mglush That is wrong. Your page size remains constant at 8.5 x 11. You do not increase to add bleed or decrease if you do not have bleed. Refer to @rob day 's diagram. Guides for bleed or margins do not change page size.

@Asadali92 Set your page size to 8.5 x 11. Add your 1" margins in the dialog box and bleed if needed.

Y'all may be misinterpreting the response from mglush. The way I read it, they are saying if you want to output with bleed of .125 onto paper stock that is 8.5 x 11 you would need to reduce the page size to 8.25 x 10.75.  That seems to be valid, as far as it goes, since it seems to imply some sort of digital output to a printer rather than press sheets, but it fails to account for any potential non-printing border area on the device. If you are trying to print full bleed on 8.5 x 11 paper on a typical laser printer, for example, the maximum print area would be 8 x 10.5, and you'd want to keep your page size at least that small (and your bleed areas would be cut off in the printer before trimming, so you would need to cut very carefully).

Page size is the final size of any publication.

The size of the margins you have to decide yourself.

Bleed is added to, never included in the page size.

ok. but if the 1 inch margin from spine is necessary then what should be the page size

Your page size is still 8.5 x 11 - that is the final trim size.

Margins are guides created inside the trim/page size.

Bleeds are added outside the trim/page size.
