Hi! Is there any way to add end caps on the stroke in paragraph rules?

Thanks very much

Hi @Nehalv ,

if you want to use rounded end caps, you could first create your own stroke style and then apply it to the paragraph rule.

From my German InDesign:

Applied as paragraph rule:

It's a workaround - you need to use both Rules - Above and Below - set one thin and the other thick - you can even use @Laubender solution to define different shape.

Then you need to set Left Indent - to have "the bullet" on the right end - but that's where it gets problematic - you need to know width of the text - as it won't change dynamically - so if the text line get wider - your "bullet" will be deformed.

You can even do something like this - to get rid of the line - using CharStyle and NestedStyles:

(I've used Yellow instead of White for better visibility)

Sample INDD doc attached.

Ah! Yet another thing what can be done if no arrows should be at the end caps:
A mix of Rule Below/Above and/or a paragraph shading or a paragraph border.

My shortcut to rules with rounded ends is to use the dotted line but apply the same color to fill and gap. That way, it looks like a straight line, but the ends are rounded.
