Parent/Master Pages Disappeared in InDesign - Help

This is going to drive me NUTS. Where the heck did my master/parent pages go? There no longer at the top like they usually are. When I click on the dropdown (three bars), the option "Parent Options" is grayed out, so I can't even click on it. No other option makes sense. How can I get them to come back? I appreciate any ideas, TIA.

Two ideas for you:

You can hide the parent pages, and if a body page is active, as in your screen shot, parent pages will be grayed out.
If that isn't it, reset preferences.

Thank you, @Barb Binder . Do you happen to have instructions for InDesign 2024? Nothing looks the same on my computer afer the part of "Reset Preferences on Quit." Much appreciated!
