Parent Pages: Why Does Content in my 'Based on' Parent Disappear when I Create a New Parent?

Hi All,

I've created a parent page in ID 17.3 with a simple footer text box at the bottom of each page in a two-page spread.

When I seek to add a new parent based on this parent page, the two text boxes disappear, leaving me with a blank original parent, and a blank new parent.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?

With many thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

parent page B-Base of document JoshDoc.indd does not contain a single element.

Further, when I add a new parent page and apply it to the two document pages, both text frames on the document pages do not disappear.

I am not seeing that here and I'm sure it would have been reported by now if it was a bug. Are you absolutely sure you're basing the new parent on the correct parent page? Can we see some screen shots or even the file itself?

Thanks, Bob. I'm certainly not sure that I'm doing the right thing. Please find file attached. I've been going to the pages menu to the right, attempting to 'Add New Parent' and specifying B-Base as the 'base on' value. When I click OK, it all disappears.

There's nothing on the B-Master at all. They are blank pages. You put the page numbers on the live spread.
