Paste remembers layers in InDesign doesn't work

I am trying to copy and paste in place some objects and keep them on the layers

Objects? Were they created in Illustrator or Photoshop? In that case, Paste Remembers Layers does't work. Use File > Place and control layer visibility via Object > Object Layer Options.
