Pasteboard and Page Extend Beyond Status Bar and Rulers in InDesign with Fit Page in Window Selected

I noticed this annoying issue after switching my main monitor from an iMac with a screen size of 5120 x 2880 to an external monitor with dims of 2560 x 1440. For some reason, now when I open InDesign and use the Fit Page in Window view option the document and pasteboard are both covered on the top and bottom. The only solution I have found is if I resize the whole InDesign window and I use the same view setting, then there is more padding between the top ruler and bottom status bar.

I'm not sure why fit page to window is considering the viewable area as within the ruler and status bar... The document when affected by this seems to be sized to the outer edges of both of these panes.

I don't mind resizing the window to accomadate this issue, but it seems silly that suddenly with a new screen size this is affected? I have included screenshots of both view (both with the view Fit Page in Window selected:

  1.  InDesign window scaled to the top of Mac Dock
  2.  InDesign window scaled slightly higher than Mac Dock

Hi @Matthew34365651sje7,

I hope Robert’s suggestion helped! If you're still facing the issue, could you confirm what connection type you're using for the external monitor-HDMI or Type C? If possible, try switching it, as I’ve seen similar display issues resolved by changing the connection type.

Also, have you tried resetting the workspace? Go to Window > Workspace > Reset Advanced and see if that realigns the UI. You might also want to check these discussions for similar cases:

Additionally, this Apple Community thread might be helpful. If none of these work, have you tested an earlier InDesign version to see if the issue persists? You can roll back using this guide: Install a Previous Version.

Let me know what you find!

Could you please confirm your OS and InDesign versions?

I may not have been clear enough in my inital post. I moved from a 2015 iMac to a 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I was initially using InDesign on the iMac screen, and now I am using an external monitor plugged into my new MacBook.

Yes, the problem is with external monitor - especially a different resolution.

Unfortunately, I'm not a Mac user - it's based on what I remember from other posts - you'll have to search forum.
