Pasting an image without a background

Hi,

I keep trying to paste an image without a background.

Instead I get a transparent background. Meaning that when I fit frame to content all I get is a rectangle rather than an outline of my shape.

The reason why this matters is I would like to shape the text around the image using the text wrap around object shape

Thanks a lot

With your image selected and in the Text Wrap dialogue box select Wrap Around Object Shape and from the fly-out menu  select Show Options, and from the drop-down menu Contour Options – Type there are various options, try Select subject.

Voila – hopefully it should wrap (you adjust the distances from the text).

The Fly-out menu is positioned top-right of the Text Wrap dialogue box.

BTW, always prepare an image in, for example, Photoshop, and then *Place* command to bring the image into InDesign. Never copy n paste.

You are looking at the Text Wrap portion of the Properties Panel, which does not show all the optional features of Text Wrap. Instead, go to the actual Text Wrap panel, where you will see the extra features Derek just noted.

Hi,

Sorry to waste your time.

I'm pretty much new to indesign though I've had a decent amount of experience of photoshop.

How do you open the flyout menu? I've tried double clicking right clicking normal clicking on the highlighted button below, the warp around object shape button.

Thank a lot much appreciated,

Have you actually tried to wrap text around this image using the InDesign Text Wrap feature?
