Hi,

Im having huge problems saving files on synology NAS with the Adobe PDF preset function (under the Files menu).
When I try to export Indesign kind of stalls/load (spinning wheel) for a long time, save the pdf file and then terminate??

Illustrator behaves rather strange as well on the mac m1 when working with NAS files (freeze on opening files etc?)..

Hope someone can help here

Thanks

Are you connecting to the NAS with AFP protocol or other protocols like SMB?

You could try to use smb:// ..., that solved a considerable amount of problems for us working with iMacs and a Synology NAS. Also to be safe, best remove the shortcuts to folders you made while connected through AFP and re-establish them with smb-protocol active.

To troubleshoot this, I would move the InDesign file to your desktop and try exporting your PDF to the desktop. If it works without a problem, you've successfully determined that the NAS is the culprit. I know it may be an inconvenient workflow, but Adobe support will do the same thing and if they can determine that the NAS is the issue, the call will be finished. Adobe does not want to troubleshoot your server unfortunately.

Hi Chad, Thanks for taking your time.

Working on files locally and on external harddisks works fine.
Problem is we need to store and work with files in and out of office. Now I have to move files to the NAS after im done working on them - really a time consuming workflow compared to how all other macs have worked on Nas drives (for the last 10+ years :D..).. I really hope adobe will come up with a solution on how to fix this issue..

In that case I'd direct my question to the NAS manufacturer to see if they can provide you with a better solution.
