Have perpetual subscription for InDesign on PC. No more PC, Now it is MacBook...

Is there something I can do to keep my perpetual subscription now on my MacBook? What's the best way to go since I cannot afford a monthly subscription.....

@Fethner24675179avn6, Because of the way Adobe has defined their licensing, the words "perpetual subscription" can't be used together. There's never been anything like that.

As others have said, if you have a perpetual license, then it's  CS6 or earlier for either Mac or Windows platform. You can't switch platforms, and it's too old to run on newer Macs. Other than keep running it on its current PC, it's a dead license.

In 2014, Adobe switched to the subscription method. If you have a subscription, you're paying monthly or annually to license the software, and the latest updates are available to you. You also can install your subscription on either a Mac or Windows computer.

There are several types of subscriptions: commercial licenses for individuals which most graphic designers have, enterprise/team licenses for large organizations, and educational licenses for those who are either students or teachers at accredited schools/colleges/universities (K-post-secondary). See https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud.html for Adobe's plans.

You can only subscribe to InDesign. For professional designers the cost is a modest monthly payment for industry standard software. There are cheaper and free alternatives available for other kinds of users.

There is no such thing as a perpetual subscription. If you're referring to have a licensed copy of a pre-CC version of InDesign there is no way to move that from Windows to Mac and even if you could it wouldn't even install on a new Mac.

Hi @Fethner24675179avn6,

I don't this that is possible now, see the following link for details

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/exchange-product-language-os.html

Also be mindful that if your MAC OS is Catalina or later, then even if you get it exchanged somehow it won't work. Catalina onwards MAC OS is 64 bit only and only supports CC2019 and later version apps. So it may not be worth the trouble after all.
