Place excel and format table style

I want to place an excel spreadsheet into my InDesign file. In the place dialog box/formatting section I selected the Table: Formatted Table but the next dropdown menu for Table Style: is grayed out so I can't select the table style. I have been able to do that in the past. Is it a bug? I have been playing around with it some and I find if I click on the table style on the panel in the interface BEFORE I go to the Place dialog, that table style will be pre-populated in the Table style dropdown, but only that style. (I have three table styles in the document).

Hi Veronica:

Ok, so I two ideas to consider:

  1. In general, when InDesign begins to behave erratically, it signals a need to rebuild cache and preferences. These files become corrupt over time and cause weird behavior, frequently after an upgrade.

  2. 19.5 may have introduced a new bug. You report it here (https://indesign.uservoice.com/) and then revert to 19.4 through the CC Desktop app until it is addressed.

Hi @Veronica22551996i6fw:

What version of InDesign and which operating system? Did this break after your most recent InDesign upgrade?

I am on a Mac OS: Sonoma 14.5 . Indesign is 19.5. Yes, I believe it was working before the INDD update. I am creating a couple of new table styles and was testing them out for others to use.

Are you sure Sonoma 14.5? There is an update to 14.6 - maybe it somehow has been applied automatically?
