Please explain the cloud storage/sync changes as if you are speaking with a small child

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! I will present my problem first and add all the long-winded details below in case that helps or anyone can relate:

Can someone please dumb down the new cloud/storage changes for me?

Adobe support by chat and phone yielded mediocre results on my end, but I still do not understand the overall gist and how we'll work on our pages each week going forward. I have no idea what I saved and where.

>>Please keep in mind, we aren't exactly idiots, but we are painfully ignorant regarding inDesign. We learned just enough trial by fire to ultimately produce desired result each week, and because my standards and time available seem to hover at low... what we were doing was a win for me. We are VERY aware we do not come close to fully utilizing this software.

We (myself and one coworker/friend) own a (still-in-print!) weekly newspaper in a very small town. When we took over in 2018 the owner was still physically COPYING AND PASTING every item to each page. Then he'd drive the 8-10 pages an hour away to the printing press in a larger town.  While they shot negatives and printed he'd hit up the Golden Corral and all was well. It was all very fascinating and also insane. Anywhoo-

We bought a Creative Cloud suite and self-taught ourselves enough inDesign to put out a decent newspaper.  Each week we create the pages inDesign, export as a PDF, and email them to the press folks. We also upload those PDFs to our website for the e-Edition.

Although this may have not been the way normal users do it, we could conveniently both be signed in at our office desktop computers and work on pages (each page a separate document). Occasionally one of us would need to work from home, so it would let us choose which desktop to sign out of, then allow a sign in at home on the laptop. So basically two signs-ins at a time for the license. (Which am I gathering may not be the norm?)

When either of us would make changes to a page we'd save, and wham-bam it's in the cloud. Sometimes we'd have to wait a few minutes for our sad and rural Internet to get things synced, but once it did we could easily view and make changes to any page we were working on for that week.

Cut to this week and we were very much unprepared for the big change. It was ugly, I contemplated fleeing the country at times, but it got done. I have so many versions of each page saved into the new cloud. Each time I saved like I used to, it would make another version... my partner was out, so I just this week there was no joint effort on another computer. Mixed results on that... I have a mess and I am not sure what or how I managed but I know we cannot function like this going forward. If we were both in the office I don't know how that would have worked going back and forth on each other's pages like we've always done.

Another thing I am worried about is accessing nearly 8 years of weekly editions that were (are?) in that cloud. I have not had the stomach to look into that yet; I am still recovering from finishing the newspaper lol.

Any polite feedback is welcome; and I do not mind providing additional info if needed. We appreciate your willingness to read all of the drivel and possibly submit a helpful comment, so thank you!

Have you downloaded everything from "Creative Cloud Synced files"?

https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/creative-cloud/kb/file-storage-quota.html

I don't use Adobe's cloud storage so I'm not sure what's the problem - but maybe you should switch to DropBox, Google Drive, M$, etc?

And, as you've pointed out - you rather can't use the same account on two computers - at the same time...

Yes, it's sounding like I will need to use a different cloud service. We had it too easy, and didn't even realize it until it was gone!

To expand on what Robert has said above:

It's technically possible to be signed into the same account on two machines, and work on them simultaneously, but I believe that the license agreement doesn't allow the simultaneous use (even though, again, it's technically possible.) The two-machine activation is for a single-user scenario; that is, the user would be using only one machine at a time. (I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong.)

@leo.r

You're correct - one license = two activations = only one used at the same time.

Also, I'm not sure it's the cause for your problem, but Creative Cloud Synced files are discontinued starting February 3:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/eol-creative-cloud-synced-files.html

If that's what you were using, then you need to switch to another cloud service (as @Robert at ID-Tasker has already suggested.)
