Previewing completed interactive text fields

Is there a way to preview how a completed text field will appear in InDesign without having to export it to interactive pdf and filling in the fields?  It's difficult to tell whether the text field is aligned correctly and often, after I export to pdf, I realize that the text appears too high or too low. I believe I was able to preview when creating the fields in Acrobat, but I would like to be able to do the same thing in InDesign.

Bob's right, no preview-type mode. You'll have to export it. Be sure you have "View After Exporting" so it opens right away.
