Printing with InDesign

New Here ,
Dec 11, 2017 Dec 11, 2017

I`ve only recently started using InDesign after needing software for multi page print. I have years worth of experience within photoshop so I`m familiar with most of the features. I`m using indesign for printing memorial cards that re double sided and four to a sheet, I`m designing these back and front and then laying them out of a sheet, this is where I`m running into difficulty. Does anyone have a link a tutorial that could show me this or explain it? I`m trying to do it myself but cant figure out a fast and simple way to print them.

I think what you are asking about is printing "imposition" and usually handled by a commercial printing company, but I assume you are printing this job off your own laser printer.

If you want to do it yourself, you have a couple of options:

1. Build your document in normal sequential pages and using the File>Print Booklet option in InDesign. (Acrobat has that feature too).

2. Put the pages in order yourself. Keep page numbers accurate using page-number sections or type them in manually.

     a. Any two pages in a spread should have the page numbers add up to the total number of pages + 1.

     b. For example, a 16-page layout would need to have the page numbers add up to 17 (16+1, 2+15, 14+3, etc.).

An 8-page layout would need the pages to add up to 9 (8+1, 2+7, etc.).

Pages need to be in multiples of 4; odd numbers typically go on the right page, even on left.
