Problem with Adobe PDF styles cyrillic names

Hi. I have Indesign 2025 20.0.0 with russian interface on macOS Sequoia.

If I try to import Adobe PDF styles from file that contains cyrillic symbols in names (not path) then error happened and style doesn't import.

if I rename file to name without cyrillic symbols and only latin, numbers and so on (but path may contain cyrillic symbols) then no error and style imported successfully.

But that is not all. In the Adobe PDF styles list in Indesign there is a problem too.

If I rename style to name with cyrillic (after import or just created) then if I close file or Indesign those renamed styles dissapear from list. But if style name contains only latin, numbers and so on then they remains in list.

In Indesign 2024 installed in parallel on that Mac all normal and I have no those issues - nor with filenames nor with preset names in preset list.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Hi @LuckyBoy1978

Sorry to hear about your experience. Could you please provide a bit more information, such as:

  • A step-by-step breakdown of your workflow.
  • Is this issue happening only with this particular file? If possible, could you share a sample file where the issue can be replicated?

We're here to assist, just need a bit more detail.

Regards,

Srishti

This issue happening with all files (and even when no files are open).

Just select File -> Adobe PDF Presets -> Define and create preset with name contains cyrillic symbols or cyrillic, latin, numbers in one name.

Now if you relaunch Indesign this preset will dissapear from list.

If you «Save as…» preset as file (any preset, it can be even one of default presets) with cyrillic symbols in name (maybe with any non-english letters) then you can't import preset from this file back until you renamed this file to not contain cyrillic symbols in name.

Hi @LuckyBoy1978,

Thank you for the additional details. It sounds like you're experiencing issues with Cyrillic characters in PDF preset names. To help us confirm if the issue is similar to another reported case, could you please take a look at this thread and let us know if your experience aligns with what is described there: [InDesign 2025 PDF JobOptions](https://adobe.ly/4epLDOQ).

Let me know if the issue matches, or if it's different, so we can provide further assistance.

Best,
Abhishek Rao

It looks they are similar - presets with non-ASCII symbols in name removes on Indesign 2025 start and can't be imported from file with non-ASCII symbols in filename..
