Jul 09, 2025 Jul 09, 2025

Hi @javigdev,

I checked in with our product and engineering teams and wanted to share what we found. Currently, page transitions applied in InDesign don't display in Acrobat on macOS, even when viewing the PDF in full screen mode. This has been identified as a known issue, and we're waiting on a fix from the Acrobat team, who are actively working on it. I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially since the feature previously worked as expected.

You mean, you have a PDF with transitions and you are importing it into InDesign? Then you expect that those transitions are imported too?

All interactiviteis from PDF cannot imported into  an INDD file. You have to apply them in the INDD for export avaiability.

You can try on an older version of Mac Acrobat, but this is not a practical option. One workaround, use Publish Online to create a presentation. Page transistions work in Publish Online.

Hi @javigdev,

Thanks so much for sharing all these details! I completely understand how disappointing it must feel when transitions don't work after all the effort you put in.

As Jeffrey mentioned, page transitions in interactive PDFs usually don't work in Acrobat on macOS, and sometimes they may not display properly even in other PDF viewers. You also mentioned that they didn't work in Publish Online, which is unexpected. Could you please confirm if the transitions don't show at all when viewing in a browser after using Publish Online, or do they appear partially?

It would really help if you could also share a short screen recording showing your export workflow and what you see after export. This will help me check further with the team.

Looking forward to your update!

Abhishek

Hi @javigdev,

Thanks so much for sharing the screen recording and the details. I've gone ahead and raised this with our product team to check whether the behavior you're seeing with page transitions in interactive PDFs and Publish Online is expected or a limitation.

I'll reach back as soon as I hear from them with more clarity.

Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Abhishek

As for Publish Online, the team confirmed that page transitions aren't supported there. If you're looking to create a similar effect, a good workaround is to use object-level animations in InDesign, which typically display correctly in browsers when using Publish Online.

I'll keep you updated with any news from the Acrobat team as soon as I hear more.

Thanks so much for your patience,
Abhishek

This problem of transitions no longer working on macOS Acrobat Pro seems to begin in 2020.

I see no fix yet. I also tested on Publish Online, and in my example, page transitions were ignored.

Maybe this feature has become an unloved and deprecated feature?

I did not realize transitions did not work in Publish Online.

However, you can apply animations to objects to simulate a page transistion, see examples here
