Vielen Dank vorab!
Hi @Tobi1908,
Thanks for your patience. I checked with the product team about this behavior, and it appears the issue is linked to the way InDesign interacts with NAS volumes when connected over SMB on macOS 26 (Tahoe). That's why the files work fine when copied locally but fail when accessed directly from the NAS.
The team suggested testing with an AFP connection instead of SMB, as this may help avoid the problem. Ref: Connect to a network drive with AFP | Seagate India.

...Hi @Sedi36047495qctw and everyone,
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I've shared this with our product team, and a bug has already been logged for this packaging issue when working with documents stored on a server. The team is actively investigating. Since the issue isn't reproducible in our internal tests, the team would like to observe the behavior directly on your setup to better understand the cause.
Would you be open to a brief debugging session with the team? If so, please send m
...Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the detailed inputs and for your patience. I checked back with the product team and wanted to share the latest update. The team has retested the Package workflow using InDesign 21.0, 21.0.1, and 21.0.2, and it’s working as expected internally on macOS 26 for both local and network locations, across different PDF presets and with both embedded and unembedded links. At this point, the issue isn't reproducible in our internal environment.

Hallo Ben,

You can also install Sequoia or Sonoma on a different partition on your current machine and work from there until the issue is resolved.

Since some of you are still running into this, we'll need to sync with you to better understand the exact workflow on your end and check if there's any specific setting, permission, or environment-related factor affecting access to linked files on the network. If anyone is available to join a short debugging session, that would be really helpful. Your inputs will be key to moving this forward.
In the meantime, please share details about your packaging workflow, where the links are stored, and any relevant permissions or security settings on the system or server.
Looking forward to your updates, so we can continue investigating this with the team.
Abhishek
