Probleme beim Verpacken in Adobe InDesign 20.5 unter macOS 26 mit Dateien auf Synology NAS (DSM 7.1)

Nach dem Update auf macOS 26 (Tahoe) tritt beim Verpacken von InDesign-Dokumenten (Version 20.5) ein reproduzierbarer Fehler auf, wenn die verknüpften Dateien auf einem Synology NAS (DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 9)liegen und über SMB eingebunden sind.

Die Fehlermeldung lautet:
„InDesign konnte das Dokument nicht verpacken. Notwendige verknüpfte Dateien können nicht kopiert werden.“

Das Problem besteht nicht, wenn das gleiche Dokument samt aller verknüpften Dateien lokal auf der internen Festplatte gespeichert ist. Dort lässt sich das Verpacken problemlos durchführen.

Tests mit unterschiedlichen Dokumenten, Schriftarten und Dateiformaten bestätigen, dass die Ursache offenbar in der Kombination aus macOS 26 + SMB-Zugriff auf die NAS zu liegen scheint – nicht an beschädigten Dateien oder ungültigen Pfaden.

Wir bitten um Prüfung, ob es sich hier um ein Problem im Zusammenspiel von macOS 26 (SMB-Handling), Adobe InDesign oder DSM 7.1 handelt – und ob ein Fix oder Workaround geplant ist.

Same issue here on several Macs (all with OS 26.2), Indesign 21.1 and files on a SMB Volume.

If we open exactly this file (on that SMB Volume) on a Mac with OS 15.7.3 and Indesign 21.1 the packaging works without any problem!

Thanks for sharing your inputs on this. Since the issue seems tied to macOS 26 with NAS connections, could you please try testing once in Safe Mode and confirm if the packaging still fails there. It would also help to check if the problem continues when working completely locally with both the document and links stored on the internal drive. This will narrow down whether the issue is specific to the OS or something broader.

Ich habe aktuell ein großes Problem, wenn ich InDesign-Dateien öffnen möchte, die auf meinem WD Cloud Server liegen.

Bei extrem vielen Dateien kommt die Meldung, dass ich diese nicht öffnen kann. Mir scheint es aber so, dass das Problem erst mit macOS 26 gekommen ist.

Was komisch ist, ist, dass ich die Datei öffnen kann, wenn ich diese vom Server auf den Mac kopiere. D.h. die Datei ist auf keinen Fall beschädigt und InDesign hat nur ein Problem, wenn diese auf dem Server liegt.

Ich glaube, dass es aktuell ein Problem von Adobe mit Apple gibt.

Problem ist halt auch, dass jeder sagt "der andere ist Schuld" - das brint so nur keinen weiter 😞

Thanks for your patience. I checked with the product team about this behavior, and it appears the issue is linked to the way InDesign interacts with NAS volumes when connected over SMB on macOS 26 (Tahoe). That's why the files work fine when copied locally but fail when accessed directly from the NAS.

The team suggested testing with an AFP connection instead of SMB, as this may help avoid the problem. Ref: Connect to a network drive with AFP | Seagate India.

Could you please try switching the connection type and let us know if it improves the behavior?

Upgdrading to/Installing a new Mac OS has this "habit" of resetting some permissions that are necessary for accessing files stored on any external drive or network server. The first place to check is your System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. Your Adobe CC apps shoud be listed there; if not, add them all.

If that isn't the issue, there might be a system level incompatibilty between macOS 26 and your Server. Being so new, I suspect there's something in Tahoe.

Thanks for your feedback Brad, I will try so. Even it doesn't really make sense to me as the disk access permessions haven't been enabled unter my previous MacOS Version but all worked fine.
Any progress I'll keep posted.

Hi Anubhav,
many thanks for your quick response. I already did so, but it didn't help at all.
I'm very sure it mus be an issue between MacOS 26 and Synology Disk Sation with DSm 7.1
