I am having problems with exporting a pdf from InDesign. This problem occurs for a couple of my colleagues. This is the massage fail that I received when it fails. Is there a easy way to detect the file that is creating the problem?

Does this document contain bitmap images? If so, is their effective (=actual) ppi so high that InDesign must resample them on exporting?
I have had this occur very frequently, lately – not only with the Very Latest Brand New™ version of InDesign, but also with very much older versions! It must be a Windows Update that broke something (in itself a worrying conclusion – how on Earth did they pull that off?).
This far (knock knock) I was able to fix it by resampling the images in Photoshop to close enough to their effective ppi, so InDesign doesn't need to.

The traditional procedure with unidentified problems while printing or exporting used to be: restarting the computer, trying again, making a copy of the file, deleting there a set of pages, trying again, deleting another batch, trying again... And so on. When the printing or exporting is possible, get back to the last deleted batch and reduce the elements until you find the culprit and so you can concentrate in how to solve it.
It's a pain in the neck but it usually works.
