Punctuation Marks Missing in Futura PT Font

I have a piece of text in the font Futura PT, but it seems that it can't handle punctuation marks? When I type a diaeresis or an accent aigu or any other, there comes a little colored box instead off ë or é or û. Does anyone knows what's the problem?

Sounds like that font doesn't have a full set of glyphs.

A quick check on the Adobe Fonts site shows that most accented letters work as expected. (I can't find a way to make a glyphs list come up, but typing a dozen different letters into the sample field works fine.)

I'd wonder if it's a free/clone font instead of Adobe. The way to check would be to review the glyphs in any Adobe app.

Futura PT as served by Adobe fonts works as expected here (CC2024 Mac). What's your system and app version?

Is this a file you made yourself, or someone else's?

I work with Adobe Indesign 2021 and I made the file myself. If I change the font the punctuation marks works fine.

And I work in Windows 11 (if that may be important).

What does that mean? Made what file? The font? The InDesign file?

I would like to close the topic. I hoped somebody would know the reason of my problem, but I guess not. I don't have time to look into it further.
Thank you all for trying to help me!

Hi @Frans34261759tp2w

I completely understand your frustration, and I’m sorry we couldn’t find a solution right away. Before you close the topic, I’d recommend trying to download InDesign 2024, which you can install while keeping the 2021 version on your system. Testing the issue on the latest version might help resolve the problem.

If you’re still experiencing the issue, could you share a screen recording of your workflow? That way, we can better understand what’s happening and guide you more effectively.

Thanks for your patience!

I don't see an answer to a simple question here: do the accented characters appear in InDesign's Glyph panel?

If the font you have installed doesn't have them, the answer is to install an updated/valid/complete font instead, from the Adobe set.

If the font has them in Glyphs, there is a command/mapping/method error in play instead.

Two different problems, two different solutions.
