it's a huge problem as it slows down the whole workflow. They do not work the hand with space bar and zoom with command space bar in photoshop and illustrator while in indesign practically nothing works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paying a subscription to see carelessness is not worth it!

Have a look at System Preferences >> Keyboard >> Shortcuts >> Spotlight.

Typically there Cmd+Space is defined to launch the OSX search feature, you can uncheck that to make the shortcut available to applications.

With my InDesign, the Hand tool is bound to the H key.

You can change that with Edit >> Keyboard Shortcuts.

Choose Product Area "Tools", there Hand Tool, then any context where you want the additional binding.

Better avoid the Text context when you redefine space or other key combinations that you need for typing.

The same way, "Zoom In" and "Zoom Out" actions are in Product Area "View".

If you had that previously working, see whether you were using a custom shortcut set.

In Finder, hold down the option key then choose menu Go >> Library.

Within Libary, go to Library >> Preferences >> Adobe InDesign >> Version nn.n >> xx_xx >> InDesign Shortcut Sets.

It may work to copy the file Testt.indk over to the new application version, then activate the set from the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog of InDesign.

Ok, I tried all the suggestions but it don't work.

Please it's fundamental understand why the shift button don't work on fix the scaling.

The others problems aren't so importsant to be solved, I can use the new work flow but the shift button it's too much importsnt.

As you have mentioned a MacBook Pro - could this be a physical problem with your keyboard?

If you have one around - does an external keyboard make any difference?

I have tried with another but it doesn't work too.

I suppose it's a setting problem, but actually I checked everything that's controllable in indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Hi Christophe,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with Adobe applications. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.
  • Did you try checking with a different keyboard?
  • Is there any Graphic tablet (like Wacom/ Huion) connected to your machine?
  • Try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting.

Regards,

Srishti

Good morning
thank you for answering. Here are my replies to your post.

  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.
    • It happened after the latest updates prior to 2020.
  • Did you try checking with a different keyboard?
    • I am using the integrated one of the macbook pro.
  • Is there any Graphic tablet (like Wacom / Huion) connected to your machine?
    • No, it's the first thing I uninstalled to understand if that could be the reason.
  • Try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software / services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting.
    • I try and let you know.

Regards

Christophe

Keyboard shortcuts work just fine for me.  Which products and versions are you using?  Which operating system and build # do you have?

Thanks for the answer

Illustrator, photoshop and indesign, I have to check the others ones but I'm too busy with work.

Software is the last release, and I work on a macbook pro 2017 / 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 / 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3.

I want to specify that the shortcuts like copy and paste work ... they are those like spacebar for the hand, command + spacebar for the zoom, shift to constrain the movement (only in indesign it doesn't work anymore) that don't work.

We still don't know which OS you have.  Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina?

Upgrading to Catalina was a problem for some folks.  There are some known issues.  See links below.   Reverting to Mojave is one option.
