R6030 Runtime error launching InDesign after upgrading to 2018

earlier this week I conducted an upgrade of all of the Adobe Creative Cloud applications we have installed on a PC.

Adobe

Photoshop

InDesign

Illustrator

After the upgrade from 2017 to 2018 the user is unable to successfully launch InDesign.  They are given an error

Runtime Error!

Program: <lcoation of InDesign.exe>

R6030

- CRT not initialized

My Attempts to fix this issue have been thwarted by various issues

- The PC is on a domain, I'm unable to enable all of the security auditing to see what Access Issues could be occurring.

- I have reinstalled the Visual C++ 2013 software

- I have reinstalled InDesign 2018

- Shutdown various Services, though unable to disable the virus scanning software (domain policies)

- Use a new user account, encountered same issue

- Unable to locate any Preference files, though the uninstall of InDesign prompted to have preferences removed with the uninstall.  I removed them then

Is there a way to downgrade to InDesign 2017?

Running on a Windows 7 Professional

Hi Mr.Harrywells/ fadsf76089719

Sorry for the inconvenience. C Runtime Error R6030 is a Windows error. Please try following steps to solve this.

  • Run a clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
  • Your security software may have specific instructions for mitigating this issue. Check your security software vendor's website for details. Alternatively, check for updated versions of your security software, or try different security software.
  • Use the Programs and Features page in the Control Panel to repair or reinstall the program.
  • Check Windows Update in the Control Panel for software updates.

For more details please refer: C Runtime Error R6030

Hi,

if InDesign CC 2017 was uninstalled during the installation phase of CC 2018 ( unfortunately that's by default, but could be prevented ) CC 2017 should be available through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. If you cannot see it, log out of CC Desktop app, reboot the machine and log in again with CC Desktop app. Then CC Desktop app should scan the application folder and make CC 2017 available for installation again.

Hm…
Windows 7 should be no problem for running CC 2018 successfully.
Check system requirements here: InDesign system requirements

Perhaps you can see something that speaks against it?

Another thought:
Is the machine perhaps overclocked?
There are some reports that overclocking the processor will get you into trouble installing CC 2018.

Uwe

We are running within a Virtual Machine environment.  We aren't overclocking our systems.

We do take weekly backups of our Citrix Xenservers.  My user doesn't use InDesign frequently, since her last usage two actions have been taken on the server.  The upgrade of another application, and the upgrade of InDesign itself.  I did the InDesign upgrade this week, so I'm going to revert to a backup prior to the InDesign upgrade.  I'll then be able to verify if it was the InDesign upgrade.

Our servers also meet the InDesign requirements.
