Recommendations for online or in-person training for InDesign Beginner

Help. I am a communications professional who has worked in editorial and page-lay out (Quarkxpress) - so yes, that dates me. I'm in a new position where I need to create some basic corporate fact sheets, brochures, flyers - nothing too fancy. I am not a designer. Can someone please recommend a teacher to me, online or in-person in Washington, D.C.? I just need the basics for the non-designer. Thank you!

Hi Sheila,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to responses given earlier, you may also go to the https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/tutorials.html to learn about InDesign.
Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh

For hands-on training, I'd recommend my friend and colleague Mike Witherell at TrainingOnsite.com. (I'm in no way financially connected to him but have met his at industry conferences over the years.) His training is focused on the Washington, DC area.

For online training, I'd suggest LinkedIn Learning and especially starting with the David Blatner's InDesign Essential Training:

Hi Sheila:

We have an online class on Jan 15–16, 2020. We have small class sizes and all of our classes are guaranteed to run, even with a single student. I am the InDesign instructor and in addition to being an Adobe Certified Instructor on InDesign, I have been delivering training on publishing software since 1988. Take a look, and of course just ask if you have any questions: https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/product/introduction-to-adobe-indesign/.
