reg. master pages

I preferred colour pages for my document and when i apply page numbers through master page, the page number gets hidden under the colour box of the page ,is it the way master page works or is there any solution to this?

Create a new layer and put the page numbers in the Master Page on that new layer. I think that should do the trick.
