Removing Tools from the Toolbar Palette?

Can particular tools be removed from the Toolbar Palette? More specifically, I want to remove the "Type on a Path Tool". When I'm switching back to the Text tool about 40-50% of the time I get the Type on a Path Tool by accident. My mouse action seems to cross the toolbar in such a way as to grab the wrong tool. I never use Type on a Path Tool so if there's a way to remove, lock, or hide that tool it would make my life a little bit easier.

Here is the link to the feature request that is already there:

allow me to hide/unhide some tools on main tool panel – Adobe InDesign Feedback

My answer is not officially proofed, but it works in many cases.

InDesign is a plugin-manager. Any function is enabled with a plugin. Some, but not all plugins are necessary to run InDesign. The others can be removed. InDesign will run without problems but with less fuctionlity.

You will find those plugins close or inside the apllication folder. On the Mac you can go to the application icon and select it with the right mouse click. Choose the context menu "show content".

There you can search and remove plugins. I would not remove, I would only rename or zip unwanted plugins, in case if InDesign malfunction or does not work at all withot this plugin, so you are able to reactivate them easy,

Just let me hide Color Theme Tool, or at least bump it down so it's not the default eyedropper tool

Hi there,

As Barb mentioned, right now InDesign does not have this feature, however, you may share this feature request here: Adobe InDesign Feedback. This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.

Regards,

Srishti

Hi dmrsunz:

Not yet. But this feature (hiding tools) is already part of Photoshop and Illustrator so I'd expect to see it at some point in InDesign.
