Rounded corner functionality disappeared in Indesign

Hi.

I am running this version of InDesign:

Have been rounding the corners of rectangle and square shapes for years but all of a sudden the program will not let me do so. When I try to do it, the little yellow square that is supposed to appear below the upper right corner does not appear. I also tried to do it using this functionality:

... and by the "show round corners" function. Nothing works. I even tried to go back to former documents where I had round cornered rectangles and cut and pasted them into the new document, but the round corners simply disappear when I paste the rectangle into the new doc.

HELP?

Thank you.

Have you tried View>Extras>Show Live Corners? Also, I'm not clear as to whether this is happening in all documents or just one specific one.

Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences [2009 Outdated & Locked]

And you might want to consider upgrading. You're 4 versions out of date.

It sounds like Bob's suggestion is the way to go but also make sure that  View > Extras > Hide Live Corners has not been chosen. That would prevent the adornment from appearing on the frame.

If trashing preferences doesn't fix the problem you could also try trashing your InDesign cache files. This can be helpful for problems within the interface.

To do so:

For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which InDesign’s cache files are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire folder “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the InDesign cache folder completely leads to a lasting change.

For Windows Users: On Windows 7 and above the caches files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version [#]\<Language>\Cache.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I tried everything and nothing worked. So I figured it must because my version is so outdated. Got a new MacBook that would allow me to upgrade to latest version, downloaded and opened latest version. SAME PROBLEM. Makes not sense. I have done this hundreds of tines before, A simple, little step,

I appreciate your efforts.

So new computer, new install, and same problem? That’s inconceivable! Makes no sense!

Bingo!!! You got it. I opened another document and I was able to round the corners of a rectangle. It's funny because on any given day I might be jumping around to any number of different projects, but since this problem occurred I have been stuck on this one document.

Thank you very much for staying with me!
