SCISSORS TOOL not working (inDesign 18.3 x64)

so i CREATED OUTLINE on a text letter (before then, i canccelled "snap to grid" etc... also deleted prefernces files as suggested in one discussion) 

SO, scissors change to cross on the first cut (dot), but that its, after that first cut scissors no longer working. it let me "scissor" just once.   (tried dozen of times different letters different files

ANY IDEA?

I can confirm this behavior with Windows 10 in versions 16, 17 and 18.2 but it is not  present in CS6. Thr problem seems only to be with outlined type. It is not present for a drawn shape.

It appears to be a Windows issue, not happening on my Macintosh.

It's not just a Windows issue - I'm having the same problem with Indesign 18.4 on my macbook running ventura 13.0. Like the OP, usually the first click will 'cut' but the scissors typically don't work after that. This issue has been happening for more than 10 years and I'm using a graphic that I drew - not text converted to outlines.

I also have issues when dragging a guide onto the cutting path (so I know where excatly to cut) and also have issues cutting if there is another path behind it. I'm usually trying to cut where the intersection is - even if I only have the path selected that I want to cut, the scissors do not cooperate when there is a guide or another path too close. It's really irritating for such an expensive program.

    I tested outlining some letters, then choosing the Scissors tool and clicking them to create more anchor points, and it worked correctly.

     

    I'm using a MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Pro, running Ventura 13.4.1 using InDesign 18.4.

     

    Can you tell us more about your system specifications and exactly what version of InDesign. Perhaps its a Windows issue.

    i updated to 18.4 (from 18.3) - problem remains

    only one dot. after that one dot - scissors no loger lets the option to cut
