Seamless booklet cover

I'm wanting to have a photo on the cover of a booklet, it will seamlessly cover both the front and back cover (wrap around the spine).

The only way I can figure to do this is to place the photo on a master page spread, then apply the master to the front and back covers.

I don't have the experience to know if this will actually create a seamless cover when I send it off to the printer.

Is this the right way to do this? is there a better way?

(I'm using a template found on the printer's website, it is a booklet with facing pages)

Instead of guessing, the first thing to do is call the printer and ask. The production methods they'll employ might make one choice favorable over another.

In my experience, many printers will ask you to set the photo up on a page sized the same as the unfolded cover, make sure to include bleed, if applicable and provide it as a separate file.

John, thanks for the info.

Yes, I plan to call the printer. However, because of my inexperience, I wanted to have a little understanding of other options so I could speak with them in an informed way. So, thank you for the option you outlined, it will help me.
