Setting left indent on individual lines in a paragraph stops working when I change the text.

Question

Hey, there community. I'm setting up a series of posters with different sentences and have to align every first word in a line to the left on each poster.

I have a template I have made where I change the text for each new poster, and normally I only have to highlight a line, type in the left indent value needed in the paragraph box, and do that for each line to align them all.

But today a strange thing happened.

When I changed the text in the paragraph I suddenly couldn't indent single lines. Even though I only select a single line, the entire paragraph is indented.

I don't know why but managed to work around it by only changing a word at a time.

Any Ideas to this problem?

Hi

I have read your post a couple of times and might understand it.

A left indent always affects the entire paragraph, whether you select a part of it or simply click an insertion point.
A paragraph is defined by pressing the Return key.
If you want the first line of a paragraph to have an outdent, then set a left indent for the paragraph and a negative first line indent.
If you have one word that you want to be on the left and you want the second word to match what you have for the left indent of the paragraph, you press the tab key after the first word.
