Setting two page numbers per page

Jan 18, 2023 Jan 18, 2023

I thought it’d be fairly quick to suss out but it’s defying me…I am working on a page count constrained document where every page is 11x17…and every page counts as TWO pages (ergo I need the page numbering to be # - # on each side of the 11x17’s….but to consecutively number each page in the document automatically if possible (1-2, the 3-4, then 5-6...etc). I’m not seeing how to set that up in the Numbering & Section Option window….any suggestions? GRACIAS!!!

Hi,

you could do it if you were using facing pages with a width half of your current page that counts as two pages.

The trick is that in that scenario: you need a text frame for the left and another frame for the right page holding the special character for page numbers. Perhaps a third one for the divider:

The essential thing is that the text frame's center of the frame that is crossing the spine is on the left hand page and therefore is showing the page number of the left hand page.

Wouldn't this be simpler simply to create a normal 8.5 x 11 facing pages document?

I'm wondering excatly why the OP is even thinking of doing this layout like this.
