Severe problems with Adobe CC products

This doesn't just related to Indesign but all the latest versions of CC.

Indesign has constant problems, whereby our only option is to constantly trash our preferences and then it seems to work ok for a day or so and then we need to do that again. I have 1 machine that constantly gets error 4 codes, saying that the file is damaged when it's not. 1 machine that's slowed to an absolute crawl. The other 4 machines are also very laggy. Then we have illustrator which, it'd be faster for me to draw the thing by hand than wait for it to open a tiny little eps file. That's on all our machines. Photoshop seems to be the only thing that seems to be working ok, but I'm guessing that's because of the fast fix they did with their unbelievable idiotic mistake.

I have to say this most recent update is the absolute worst that Adobe has ever launched. Had I known that there were going to be these huge issues I wouldn't have installed it and stayed where we were. And before you say downgrade to the older version, we have hundreds of files now that can't be opened on the older version because of your the constant file format of indd and idml. I've had constant crashing too and then have to load in my Workspaces every other file open.

I am so jaded with all this that I'm even contemplating not renewing my 9 licences this year and looking for alternatives. It's costs me a pretty penny every year and then you dump this pile of garbage on us. Not happy Adobe, not happy at all. Don't end up being another Quark and get complacent. You know what happened to them.

Has anyone else experienced this large problem? We've uninstalled and reinstalled, installed without using the old settings / preferences files etc etc. Nothing seems to be fixing this irritating issue.

That margin would be too close for me...machines so often have issues. And surely you test updates before rolling them out... I’d expect in such a setup to have a spare machine with all software licenses. If the budget doesn’t run to that maybe there is the option to test on a Sunday or at 2am.

If one one machine works ok, a thing to compare is additional software on the failing machines, no matter how apparently unrelated it is.

I usually wait a few weeks after the initial launch to see if there’s any major problems on the forums and if not then roll out on one machine 1st then if that one is ok then rollout to all. I do exactly the same with OS updates to ensure there’s no problems with our mainstay programmes. This launch though seemed ok and then it just went bang.

I do get what you mean though. I think for future I’m going to have to set aside 1 machine that’ll just be for testing purposes only.

I've been doing a bit of digging in to Extensis Suitcase and they seem to be partly responsible for some of the issues we've been experiencing (awful plugin killing the speed of InDesign and Illustrator). I'm not sure why that still seems to be the case when Suitcase isn't even open but there must be something going on behind the scenes.

However the file is damaged error is not down to them but down to Adobe. How can almost every other file be damaged? Once InDesign crashes I then re-open InDesignand that same damaged file will miraculously open. I don't get it. My Workspace settings get reset back to default too, and whilst a couple of clicks to get them back isn't exactly hard, it's just inconvenient and repetitive and I guess it's grating on me too.

Has anyone else experienced this continuous file damaged error?

What is the exact version of InDesign you're using and OS?
