Shortcut for copy the file name from a selected object

Hi there,

Is there a way to simply read the filename from a linked object and do this with a shortcut. Unfortunately, I have only found the possibility to copy the entire path (including file name: Copy Info > Copy Full Path) and assign this with a shortcut.

Thanks. Gerhard

Hello Eugene,

Thanks a lot for your help.

Our company is in the process of changing the links in InDesign of all brochures. The reason is a change to a DAM.

I know your suggestion with right click in the links panel...
But we would save a lot of mouse clicks if there was a shortcut for "copy filename". Interestingly there is the possibility of a shortcut for "Copy whole path" etc.. but not for "copy filename".

Best,

Gerhard

In the Links Panel - you can select the link - or highlight on the page by selecting it.

Expand the links panel with the arrow at the bottom.

You can then right click the filename to copy the filename.

Can I ask what you need this for? Is it for a Caption?
As InDesign has a Caption Feature.
