Question

Shuffle pages WITHOUT changing current page numbers

I'm facing a unique issue where my client would like to delete select pages from a 200 page document. Each page is numbered using markers > current page number. If I delete the pages my client no longer wishes to proceed with, it will obviously update each page with its current page number... - however for cataloging reasons, I need the page numbers to stay the same. So, page 3 might suddenly be page 2, but I need it to keep the original page 3 number.

Besides manually typing them in, (or outlining the text?), Is there a simple way I can make InDesign override or keep the current page markers it has?

Thanks in advance! 😃

You could make a copy of the file and delete the content from the unwanted pages, and assign a Master Page of none to them. Then, after the PDF is made, delete the blank pages just from the PDF.

It's true, I could do this, but I fear if this is to become a repeat activity over many different files - ideally I would like to keep it a bit more neat and tidy. It becomes a bit arduous if you consider, say, a 500 page document and 150 of the pages need to be deleted.

You might want to pop over to the scripting forum.
