simplified Chinese characters: how to insert them

New Here ,

Thank you to all that can advise on this

I saw some early threads on this but I'm sure there are some improved methods.

How to insert simplified characters in Indesign CC? I have simplified Chinese as an alternate language on my keyboard (mac high sierra) and used one of the standard character fonts in the programme. My problem was the second/third characters in a word would not show up when I hit enter on the alternate keyboard, resulting in me having to type each character separately. I'm sure there is an easy way to solve this.

Thank you

Well, the easy way would be to use the asian or chinese Version of Indesign, which of course supports to enter chinese characters. Extermal tools may also work. What you can generally do is to type them external, for example into Notepadd++ or Word or whatever text writing tool you have that supports unicode, and copy/paste to Indesign.
