Hello,

i copy an english text with simplified Chinese translation from a Word document into a indesign document.

However the Chinese language / font shows just rectangle symbols. Not very experienced in indesign yet,

any one could give an advice, believe it is just something small or a missing language/font?

Txs Christian

    Hi Christian,

don't think that you will not be able to learn about GREP Styles and GREP expressions :-)

In my linked thread there are some screen shots posted that should lead you the way:

Re: Chinese Font and English Font in one paragraph

    The basics are that:

    1. Create a character style that is using a font for the Chinese glyphs.

    2. Create a paragraph style with a GREP Style that is using the character style.
The GREP expression to catch Chinese glyphs is published there.

Apply the paragraph style to your text.

    I hope, that's easy enough to follow…

    Dear Uwe,

Thanks a lot for your input.

However I believe this is too complicated for myself.

Especially considering the prices adobe takes and in todays international business environment it should be standard,

    Even in powerpoint no problem,

    Best regards Christian
