Smart guides just stop appearing (CC)

Both me and my colleague have noticed with InDesign CC that smart guides just stop showing up. Those little clicks you experience as you change the position of an objects edge and the green lines appear... they just don't do that anymore. Anyone else experienced this?

What happens if you turn off Snap to Grid? Are Smart Guides re-enabled?

Thank you. Turning off Snal to Document Grid did the trick. VERY much appreciated!

This clumsy conflict between Snap to Grid and Smart Guides is a long-time annoyance in both InDesign and Illustrator!

I just found that Control+U toggles the Smart Guides on and off.  Very easy to turn them of unintentionally.

I had the same thing and just realised that I had all the objects grouped....as soon as I ungrouped them - the green guides came back on!

Version of InDesign? Operating system? Did you make any other changes to your installation(s) which might conflict?

9.1, Mavericks, no.

We're creating prototypes for sites and to circumvent the issue of InDesign not placing objects on whole numbers we're using a 1px x 1px grid... it could be that this interferes with the smart snapping and snapping of objects? We could swear though that we had both the green smart guide lines appearing and this grid simulataneously?
