Soft returns

Please refer to 01 Screen Shot and 02 Screen Shot, attached.

I have an author's quotation made up of 3 small paragraphs. In 01 I used my paragraph style for quotations. However, I don't want a blank line between the paragraphs so I used a soft return and got what is shown in 02, which is not what I want. The paragraph style has justification set to Left Justify.

How do I modify the style to eliminate the 3 words spreading out over the whole line?

Thanks in advance.

If you do not want to spread the words, don't use shift-return. work with 2 paragraph styles and use return.

You could just use left align on your text or use this setting in your paragraph style (and keep the paragraphs separate):

Hi @Michael J B:

Check the spacing values for the quote paragraphs. Note that you are using a baseline grid, so the spacing value (probably space below) will need to be set to 0 for the next paragraph to align to the next grid line.

You have the paragraph style set to Justify All Lines

You need to choose the other one - Justify with last line aligned left

In this case, it would make no difference. As the forced return will stretch all words to justify this line.
