I am working on a magazine that has a bunch of ads on each page. My supervisor wants me to send her a proof with only one of the ads on the page in a pdf format. What would be the most efficient way to do that?
For instance lets say that page 2 has 3 ads for 3 different pet supply stores, and one of them is called petplus. She only wants a pdf of pet plus's ad to send to the advertiser so how would I crop everything else in the page out? The supervisor also wants the file size to be small.
What I have been doing is exporting the whole page as a pdf into Acrobat and then cropping it to just petplus's ad (or the one ad) in Acrobat and then exporting it again and making sure to select pdf optimized. This seems easy but it is tedious when you have a dozen or more ads.
I used to just take a screenshot with it in the finished look on InDesign, but the quality is naturally sometimes off and she doesn't want a jpeg.
My question is to you: Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

You could try Layout Zone - it creates a new document with the selection - and then replaces it with an InDesign document - so you can send the InDesign file to someone to correct then update.
In your case you just want a PDF - this way your advert will be a placed link - linking to an InDesign file - which you can edit to update, or export to PDF by opening it and exporting it.

They seem to have this script but I can't find it

As suggested above - from Scripting you can export particular object - or selection - to PDF/JPEG/etc.
With the right tool - it can be even more automated...
All your ads can be exported as separate PDFs.
Or you can change your workflow - and prepare each ad as a separate INDD file and then place it in your magazine.

I should have clarified that the proofs I am sending out are completely flattened images that won't be edited by the advertisers as they do not know how. They don't want access to the InDesign file, they just want a pdf to look at the work that has been done to show progress. I hope that explains it better and thanks for the replies!

Yes, for some reason that script isn't still up on that site which is a bummer.

If it's a flattened image - then just go to the link and open it in Acrobat - save it as a PDF.
