I'm having issues (again!) with certain settings in InDesign panels not working. For example, when trying to change the font in the Character panel, it shows a preview of the font as I scroll through them but when I click on the one I want it switches back to the previous font. I'm having the same issue with the stroke weight. The only way to change these parameters is in the Control Panel at the top of the window. I've had this issue before and then it simply went away, presumably thanks to an update, but now it's back again.
There's a similar issue with the Tint in the Swatches panel. When I try to use the slider to adjust the tint it closes the panel immediately. The only way to adjust it is to enter the number manually. We really need a fix for this!
I'm using InDesign version 18.5 on a Mac Studio with M1 Max processor and macOS 13.5.2.
Thank you, Bill, but I'm afraid this didn't work. It's happened a couple of times before but then simply started working again. It's so frustrating. Thanks again.

Some users have suggested improvements by updating the Mac Os.
However, if this isn't working or not an option (due to it being already up to date)
If a document is not behaving well then try
File>Export
Choose IDML
Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

Thanks for your suggestion, Eugene, but no luck, I'm afraid.

Problems within panels can often be fixed by deleting your InDesign cache files. This is not the same as deleting preferences.
To do so on a Mac:
For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which InDesign’s cache files are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the “Caches” folder. Within the Caches folder find and delete the entire folder “Adobe InDesign”. I find that deleting the InDesign cache folder completely leads to a lasting change.
